Regular fasting is important because there are things we can only experience and discover through fasting. God is with us as we regularly abstain from all food and nourishment. DESCRIPTION:Join us for 30 minutes this Tuesday\, October 17th. You are invited to a day of prayer and fasting for peace and reconciliation in the Holy Land. This time of prayer will include the Office of Vespers and the partaking of the Eucharist. All are welcome to join us. All the liturgies and prayers will be in the video for you. \n\n\n\nThere is a profound need for peace and reconciliation. Violent people are again wielding death and terror in the Holy Land. There is unprecedented violence\, terror\, and death across both Israel and Palestine. In the midst of so much sorrow and dismay\, let us turn to the Lord in prayer. That we ask the Lord to give us His peace. To give all people His peace. \n\n\n\nThe people of both lands deserve peace and reconciliation. They deserve freedom from the violent people who rule for them. They deserve rest from the fear of death. Dare we hope that people of both lands awaken free from violence\, hatred\, and fear. May they all discover a new life of lasting peace. A peace not enforced by the threat of violence. A peace built on reconciliation and justice. \n\n\n\nThe following is abbreviated from the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem: \n\n\n\n\nOn behalf of all the Ordinaries of the Holy Land\, I invite all parishes and religious communities to a day of fasting and prayer for peace and reconciliation. \n\n\n\nWe ask that on Tuesday\, October 17\, everyone hold a day of fasting\, abstinence\, and prayer. DESCRIPTION:Breath prayer is an ancient contemplative practice in which one prays by meditating on a specific phrase while slowly inhaling and exhaling. The most common breath prayer is: (Inhale) Lord Jesus Christ\, son of God\, (exhale) Have mercy on me\, a sinner.
