Foundation

At the heart of hospitality is an embodiment of the love and mercy God has for all His children. The love of our God is a love that chooses to serve one another. This same serving and sacrificial love brought and held Jesus upon the Cross. Let our spirits, hearts, and lives be transformed by the love of God. Then they will overflow with acts of love for ourselves and one another.

In the midst of serving, we are transformed. We are transformed so that we may serve in greater love. This is a wonderful cycle of hospitality that emanates from the heart of Christ. From our Christ, who has prepared a room for us, and set a place for us at His table.

There is much that goes into being hospitable. It is possible to simply do outward acts without it coming from a God-led transformation of self. Instead, let us seek to begin with a Jesus-like love and then allow God to lead us. As we become more like Jesus, we will grow in our love and service for others. May our lives be marked by both a spirit and works of hospitality.

You can learn more about this in our Way of Life. It is included in our rule, ‘Cultivate a Life of Hospitality that Flows from your Heart and Spirit.’
